Welcome to the Denton County Fallen Soldier Memorial Website

"The Price of FREEDOM is Written on the Wall"

The Denton County Memorial Wall is a tribute specifically to The Fallen Soldiers of Denton
County All Fallen Soldiers are from the Iraq and Afghanistan theater (Desert Storm/Desert Shield
and Operation Enduring Freedom). Started in 2007, it memorializes these brave Soldiers.
The Texas Senate and The 66th Congress Of The United States acknowledge the Memorial.

The man responsible for the Denton County Fallen Soldier Memorial is Monty Slough.
A Vietnam veteran who served two years in Southeast Asia. Today, Mr. Slough spends
much of his time assisting fellow veterans and reminding civilians of the courage and
bravery of those who have paid the ultimate price. “Denton County needed to show it's
respect,” says Mr. Slough, when asked why he started the Fallen Soldier project. His
efforts have also helped comfort the grieving families the soldiers left behind. “I have a
message on my phone from a Fallen Soldier's mother. The family had seen the memorial and
were thankful I had made their son a part of my life,” says Mr. Slough; “I saved the message.”

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
